Entelechy Associates was invited to participate in testing an alpha version of Gridcentric Virtual Memory Streaming (VMS) to assess the benefits of incorporating Gridcentric VMS in the virtual infrastructure of a VDI environment. Test results show that the alpha version of VMS used in conjunction with Citrix XenServer and XenDesktop lowered server memory requirements by over 50%, doubling the number of virtual desktops per server, while at the same time eliminating “boot storm” IOPS loading; creating significant cost saving opportunities and increasing operational flexibility.
This paper reviews Gridcentric VMS, shares details of the most recent performance tests, and offers a preliminary analysis of its benefits.
